About

Gadi Wolfsfeld holds the rank of full Professor of Communication at the Sammy Offer School of Communication at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Herzliya. He also serves as head of the MA program in “Communication and New Media” in that school.
In August of 2017, Professor Wolfsfeld was awarded the Murray Edelman Lifetime Distinguished Career Award by the Political Communication Association of the American Political Science Association.
For thirty years before coming to IDC, Professor Wolfsfeld held a joint appointment in political science and communication at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He also served as the Chair of the department of communication there. Professor Wolfsfeld was also elected to serve as chair of the political communication division of the American Political Science Association (2006-2007). He also won teaching awards at both Hebrew University and the IDC.
Professor Wolfsfeld received his undergraduate degree in political science from Hebrew University and his Ph.D. from M.I.T. in the same field.
Professor Wolfsfeld’s main research interest has to do with the role of the media in political conflicts and peace processes. He has published dozens of articles on these topics and six books.
His article (together with two co-authors) on the role of the social media in the Arab Spring won an award from the political communication of the International Communication Association for the “best article published in the field of political communication in 2013”. His most recent book is entitled: Making Sense of Media and Politics: Five Principles in Political Communication.
