Study Abroad

Guidelines & Eligibility

How Does it Work?
IDC Herzliya signs bilateral exchange agreements with select institutions around the world for a set number of students for each year. As an exchange student, you are allowed to enroll in one of our Partner Institutions for one semester abroad, while at the same time remaining a registered full-time student at IDC Herzliya. Therefore, all tuition and fees are paid to IDC Herzliya and are waived to the host institution.

IDC Requirements to Study Abroad During the Academic Year:

• Have a compelling academic reason to study abroad that relates to your overall academic plan at IDC.
• Be in good academic and judicial standing, with no previous disciplinary problems at IDC.
• Submit a completed IDC Study Abroad Application by the appropriate deadline.
• Confirmation of acceptance to studies at a particular host institution depends on the deadlines of the host institution.

Psychology and Communication students, may only study abroad in their 7th semester (fall semester of the 4th year). This means that you can only participate after you have completed three years of studies.

Target Audience:
The program is intended for students who have successfully completed at least 2 semesters at IDC.

Selection criteria:
Necessary conditions to apply to these programs include:

• Good academic and judicial standing, with no previous disciplinary problems at the IDC.
• Excellent English Skills, both in speaking, reading and writing.

After screening all applications, some applicants may be invited for a personal interview.

The semester abroad will replace the academic semester at IDC. Many institutions abroad start in the beginning of September and lasts through the end of December. Note that this overlaps the end of the summer break at IDC, and leaves some time between the end of the semester abroad and the beginning of the second semester at IDC.

IDC students can enroll for credit in elective courses available exchange students, subject to prerequisites, capacity limitations and availability. IDC students will get credit for all courses they complete successfully (pending approval by their academic advisor).

IDC students will continue to pay regular tuition at IDC. Tuition payment at the host institution is waived for IDC exchange students.

IDC students will get some information and help in finding proper housing, but exchange students will be responsible for their own housing arrangements.

Financial Responsibility:
Exchange students will be responsible for their own expenses including travel, accommodations, health insurance and all other expenses.

• Students who are visiting a partner institution (on a student exchange) pay tuition to IDC Herzliya. You may be
required to pay an additional administrative or “study abroad” fee to the university you visit.
• Students are responsible for medical and travel insurance.
• Students are responsible for the cost of travel, visa, housing, books, food, and all other misc. costs while abroad.
