IREP was established to position Israel as a world leader in this field. In order to achieve this goal, IREP helps formulate policy based on in-depth interdisciplinary research. The technological, economic, environmental and regulatory aspects of Israeli developments in the field of alternative energy are examined by leading experts on behalf of IREP. IREP has an international think tank composed of analysts and experts in a variety of fields such as energy economy, renewable energy policy, project financing, industry and strategic research. IREP cooperates with the U.S. National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). IREP provides policymakers with analytic tools based on its research in order to formulate progressive policy that will help promising Israeli technologies in the field of alternative energy enter the international marketplace and take on a leading role.

Dr. Isaac Berzin is the Founding Director of the Institute for Renewable Energy Policy at the IDC and an Affiliated Scientist at MIT.
Dr. Berzin was recently included in Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people in 2008 and his innovative work in Clean Energy has won him numerous awards and accolades. Dr. Berzin founded GreenFuel Technologies in Cambridge, MA. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
