Advanced Virtuality Lab (AVL)
Today, at the start of the twenty-first century, people spend an increasing amount of time in digital negotiations on the cybernetic field. Where is society headed? In the future, will people spend large parts of their lives being represented by avatars in three-dimensional virtual worlds, together with masses of people from all over the real world? The AVL handles a variety of multidisciplinary projects that try to understand virtuality on the technological, scientific, societal and cultural levels. It builds virtual worlds and the interfaces that will be used in the future, investigates human behavior and the human mind in a virtual reality setting, and tries to understand the mutual relations between the virtual and the real in human lives.
