Asper Institute for New Media Diplomacy at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications
The Asper Institute for New Media Diplomacy focuses on the study and application of new media technologies for use in diplomacy. The unique capabilities of these new technologies allow for innovative communication and enable us to promote diplomatic discourse and activities from different, and perhaps unexpected, angles. Uses of new media also help us reach new and more varied audiences than reached by the traditional media.
The institute’s researchers and students work to broadcast audiovisual information via new media platforms; social networks; blogs; viral marketing campaigns and the IDC radio. The institute also conducts academic research on the changing public opinion in virtual arenas.
In 2010, the Asper Institute launched www.nocamels.com a professional news websites with daily articles on Israeli innovations in the fields of technology, environment, health and lifestyle. The site is read by a large local and international audience and re-published on many popular blogs and news sites, including the Jerusalem Post. The institute's students, from all schools at IDC, work as journalists, editors and on marketing strategies.
The institute is headed by the Sammy Ofer School of Communications' Dean Dr. Noam Lemelshtrich Latar and international journalist Anouk Lorie.
